The Natural History of Intuition, Aesthetics and Creativity

Intuition, aesthetics, and creativity are shrouded in mystery because their roots are invisible, which is precisely their adaptive evolutionary value.  These closely related subconscious processes play a central role in human psychology, personal experience, and culture − and yet they are widely and often intentionally misunderstood.


The first lecture explores the evolution of these mental faculties and reviews the primitive cognitive functions from which they emerge.

Finally, a naturalistic perspective will be offered on the perennial question: What Is Art?
